Prayer and Fasting, Day 1 – Preparing for the Harvest

Psalm 117:1-2
Praise the Lord, all you nations.
Praise him, all you people of the earth.
For his unfailing love for us is powerful;
The Lord’s faithfulness endures forever.
Praise the Lord!

1. As we begin our weeklong, end-of-year prayer and fasting bonanza, let us be intentional about praise and thanksgiving to God. All through the day, let your mind and your heart be filled with appreciation for the unfailing love and faithfulness of our God. Go through this fast with great expectation, knowing that we serve a living God who has promised to answer when we call.
   • Jeremiah 33:3: “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know“
2. Let us give thanks the Lord for everything.
   • 1 Thessalonians 5:18: “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.“
3. Ask the Lord to help you to lift up your eyes and look up, no matter the contrary voice you may be hearing or the challenging situation you may be facing.
   • John 4:35: “Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” 
4. As a church, let us ask the Lord to open ours eyes to see all the available fields that are ripe for harvest.
